黄山，雄踞于风景秀丽的安徽南部，横亘在太平、歙县、黟县和休宁四县之间，是我国最著名的山岳风景区之一。黄山集中国各大名山的美景于一身，尤其以奇松、怪石、云海、温泉“四绝”著称，是大自然造化中的奇迹，历来享有“五岳归来不看山，黄山归来不看岳”的美誉。
黄山徽派文化底蕴丰富，内涵深广，是我国三大区域文化（藏学、敦煌学、徽学）之一，涵盖了哲、经、史、医、科、艺诸多领域。黄山市位于皖浙赣三省结合部，群山环抱之中，古代徽州历来有“山深不偏远，地少士商多”之说。同时，由徽商兴盛而形成了新安理学、新安医学、新安画派、徽派盆景、徽墨歙砚、徽派建筑、徽雕、徽刻、徽剧、徽菜等独具地方特色的文化流派。
黄山不仅以奇伟俏丽、灵秀多姿著称于世，还是一座资源丰富、生态完整、具有重要科学和生态环境价值的国家级风景名胜区，属世界文化与自然遗产，已被列入《世界遗产名录》。黄山现已成为中国名山之代表，享有“天下第一奇山”之称，并与长江、长城、黄河并称为中华民族的象征之一。
